The shorts and documentaries

The European Film Academy has announced the shortlist of competitors for the Prix ARTE 2003, awarded to the Best European Documentary. The prize has been instigated in collaboration with the French-German cultural television channel, ARTE, and the winners will be announced on Saturday December 6, during the European Film Awards ceremony.
The European Film Academy has also announced the names of the jury members who will be meeting in Berlin to view the works entered for the PRIX ARTE and to name the winner. The jury members are: Alfredo Knuchel, documentary director, journalist and consultant to international festivals from Switzerland; Ben Lewis, producer and director, Britain; Michael Muschner, filmmaker and musicologist, Germany.

The short films running for the UIP/European Film Awards Prize are the winners of the various UIP prizes awarded during the year at 12 European festivals, run in collaboration with UIP. The 12th candidate is the winner of the prize for Short Films at the Greek Festival of Drama. The winner of the final prize, which will also be awarded during the Berlin ceremony on December 6, will be chosen by the 1,600 members of the European Film Academy.
