Citing "a thorough revamp of the Directors’ Fortnight, its name, its unique qualities, and its strategic and activistic position", the board of directors of the SRF (Society of Film Directors), which oversees the renowned Cannes parallel section, has decided to part ways with current artistic director Paolo Moretti, who was appointed in 2018 and who will step down at the end of the 2022 edition (set to unspool from 18-27 May as an integral part of the 75th Cannes Film Festival). The separation was officially announced by a courteous and complimentary press release ("The SRF recognises the work accomplished by Paolo Moretti since 2018, his commitment to the films and the directors, the quality of his selections, his unwavering professionalism, and his management of the particularly difficult period plagued by the health crisis").
