in the New Directors section of the San Sebastián Film Festival three years ago, earning herself two nominations for the Goya Awards, among other plaudits. After The Innocence, Alemany shot the teen-orientated show 69 raons for the Valencian autonomous community’s TV channel, and one episode of the second season of Perfect Life, which was created by and starred Leticia Dolera.

), the movie tells of how Toni and Emilio (played by Paco León and Ernesto Alterio) get the same, devastating call: their wives are in a coma following an avalanche at a ski resort. When they arrive at the admissions desk in the mountain hospital, they make a surprising discovery: their wives are actually one and the same person, Laura (played by Celia Freijeiro). For years, Laura has been leading (secret) parallel lives, embarking on a wild roller-coaster ride straddling her two families. Forced to live together until Laura wakes up and can be transferred, Emilio and Toni fight to prove which of the two is her one, true husband.

Mari(dos) is a production by Telecinco Cinema, Producciones Cinematográfias Ciudadano Ciskul, Think Studio and Dos Maridos AIE, which boasts the involvement of Mediaset España, Movistar Plus+ and Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group. The film – which has also secured backing from the ICAA – will hit Spanish screens courtesy of distributor Buena Vista International.
