Launched in 2019, the Animation Day is a carefully curated programme and one-day event that features talks, panel discussions, work-in-progress screenings and networking events specifically catering to the global animation filmmaking community. The event is the fruit of collaboration between the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the world’s leading benchmark for animation film, and Cannes’ Marché du Film, in partnership with Animation! Ventana Sur, the animation arm of Latin America’s leading audiovisual market, Ventana Sur, which is co-organised by the INCAA and the Marché du Film.

For this year’s edition, during which in-person events will make a comeback, the Animation Day will kick off with the Annecy Goes to Cannes pitching session, where five highly anticipated works in progress at various stages of post-production will be presented by their filmmakers, currently seeking sales agents, distributors or festival exposure for their animation projects.

Furthermore, two conference panels are being organised, featuring world-class talent and guest speakers from the animation film industry, and thought-provoking discussions on animation’s place in the future cinema landscape. The Animation Day takes place on Sunday 22 May 2022 in Cannes, and more details of event times and guest speakers will be confirmed soon.
