CineLink’s Docu Rough Cut Boutique announces this year’s winners
- Four out of six projects were awarded at Sarajevo's industry event, with Hungarian title Fairy Garden directed by Gergő Somogyvári taking home the most important prizes
Organised by the Sarajevo Film Festival and the Balkan Documentary Center, CineLink’s Docu Rough Cut Boutique is a regional platform dedicated to documentary projects in the advanced phase of the editing process. The programme is organised in three modules: Budapest, Sofia, and Sarajevo. This new set-up brings a greater opportunity to participants for them to explore their creative possibilities, and to have a longer, more in-depth mentoring process. This year’s novelty is the inclusion of one Ukrainian project on top of the five films previously selected.
This year’s winner of two awards given by the jury consisting of Margje de Koning (Movies That Matter), Hanka Kastelicova (HBO Europe), Eugen Kelemen (Avanpost), Catherine Le Clef (Cat&Docs) and Marcel Maiga (DOK Leipzig), is Gergő Somogyvári’s Fairy Garden which won the HBO Max Award with a money prize of €2,000 and Avanpost’s prize worth €20,000 in services. This New Retina Productions Kft.’s production tells the story of young transgender amazon Fanni finding shelter, acceptance and a sense of family belonging in a hut just outside Budapest in which Laci lives in a DIY fashion.
The Soldier, directed by Aleksandar Nikolić, bagged the Cat&Docs’ award of €2,000. The DOK Leipzig Preview Award went to Giorgi Parkosadze’s Requiem to the Hot Days of Summer, while My Muslim Husband directed by Daniel Barnuti and Alexandra Lizeta Barnuti got the Movies That Matter Award.
