The new films from Lois Patiño and Paula Palacios participate in the 7th Abycine Lanza
- This weekend a total of 28 Spanish projects, some in development, others in post-production, will be presented at the Albacete Independent Film Market

“Lanza continues to grow, we will have more industry activities with many Spanish and some European sales agents: the greatest number of professionals that have attended so far,” said José Manuel Zamora, director of Abycine, on the eve of the seventh edition of its Independent Film Market (29 September-2 October). 28 projects, listed at the end, will be presented which include new works by directors such as Lois Patiño (who will debut with Coast of Death [+see also:

This event has become the leading platform for independent audiovisuals and Spanish talent. More than 250 professionals (from Spain and Europe) will attend this year’s event, during which Abycine Lanza on the road will also be presented, a circuit that is supported by a Next Generation grant from the Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) and that will help to take some of the films featured in Impulso WIP around Spain.
The ICAA is also collaborating with Abycine Lanza for another year. At the market it is organising the meeting for laboratories and incubators supported by the ICAA's own call under the name Pantalla Porvenir. The round table To match or not to match will focus on what sales agencies are looking for in projects under development, in a hybrid format, as well as the workshop When east meets west... and Iberoamerica, given by Alessandra Pastore and attended by the director general of the ICAA, Beatriz Navas.
This year this event will be added to the Spanish Screenings activities, an international meeting point for new Spanish audiovisual creations: Lanza brings together the first edition of the Spanish Screenings On Tour, presented by the ICAA, with the Abycine Lanza Award to recognise a non-binary director or person. One of the titles of the Impulso CMM Projects will be incorporated into the Spanish Screenings Perspectives (Punto Género section) at Ventana Sur, to be soon held in Buenos Aires (read more).
Abycine Lanza offers a full programme of meetings and training workshops, as well as pitching sessions at the three forums at Lanza: Impulso CMM (with 16 participants), Impulso WIP (nine) and Impulso AB que no es poco (three). And CMM continues its firm commitment with two €17,250 grants to the winning projects in Impulso CMM.
Finally, in Impulso WIP, the Malaga Festival will award the MAFIZ WIP Award, thanks to which one of the projects will participate in the MAFIZ Malaga Industry Zone in 2023. The work selected by Filmin will receive a €22,000 grant for the exploitation and distribution of the audiovisual work in cinemas and online.
