The 12th edition of East Doc Platform (EDP) is awaiting its next batch of projects. Running from 24-30 March, EDP is the largest co-production, funding and distribution platform tailor-made for Central and Eastern European documentaries. The 2023 edition will take place at the French Institute in Prague. EDP is organised by the Institute of Documentary Film in association with the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

The application period is now open, and the deadline is set for 13 November. The platform is looking for creative feature-length documentary films (creative story- or character-driven), factual series and non-fiction transmedia (interactive factual, VR/AR) projects from Central and Eastern Europe in development, production or post-production. The selection is also open to international projects thematically bound to the CEE region. Every year, the platform connects European filmmakers with key decision makers – producers, broadcasters, distributors and festival programmers – from all over the world.

EDP runs across four sections. East Doc Forum is a pitching session for Central and Eastern European creative documentary projects in development or at the production stage, including factual series. Participation includes a five-day programme of pitching training and preparation, networking opportunities and individual meetings with invited decision makers. East Doc Series is part of the East Doc Forum, involving three-day-long pitching training and consultations, with pitch and networking opportunities for documentary series projects in development or in production.

East Doc Interactive is a three-day workshop with consultations and networking opportunities for documentary projects with VR and interactive elements in development or in production. Meanwhile, East Doc Market features pre-arranged, one-on-one meetings with decision makers for documentary projects in production and post-production.

Since 2001, more than 300 documentary films have been completed with the direct support of the East Doc Forum, including Marta Prus’s award-winning Over the Limit [+see also:
