Effects made in England
- Escape Studios, the first visual effects film school in the UK, is backed by Ridley Scott
Escape Studios is the UK´s first visual effects school and is due to open its doors to students in July 2002. Backed by Oscar winning film director, Ridley Scott and managed by Dominic Davenport, Escape is a serious attempt to keep British technology on the cutting edge of filmmaking technology and competitive. Especially with America. Many of the courses were developed in close collaboration with set design and post-production experts from the BBC and Britain´s leading film companies.
Escape Studios will train technicians for the film and television industries where computer generated sets cost considerably less than building real sets and will create much needed employment in Britain: the visual effects of recent productions like Gladiator, Harry Potter and the latest 007 were all added in English studios. Escape will also train computer games inventors.
