NEM Zagreb reveals its full programme

NEM Zagreb, one of Central and Eastern Europe's key TV events, is about to return after its 2019 pilot edition with a three-day session set to take place from 7-9 December, under the motto "All About Content Creation".

Producers, screenwriters, production companies and representatives of free-to-air television, pay-TV channels, streaming services and other content creators will take part in a programme full of panels, Q&As, presentations, studies on successful business practices, speakers and other special events.

Panel discussions will tackle issues such as the relationship between companies in high- and low-production countries, the biggest challenges that leaders face, how true content has to be in order for it to fit the "based on a true story" category, the creative process of writing, and whether the Adria region can adapt to the Scandinavian model.

The conversation about the TV industry will continue during several Q&A interviews on the impact of streamers on non-English-language content, and originals from producers based in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The central part of the programme, entitled Content Showcase, will see the largest European and regional companies, such as Viaplay Group, Firefly Productions, 24sata and RTV Slovenia, present their top original content at various stages of development, while CineLink Drama will present the original content of BH Telecom. Big Light Productions and Lumière will present their successful business practices at the aptly titled Co-production Business Practice session.

NEM Zagreb will close with an awards ceremony to celebrate the winners of the TV Writing Contest, chosen from among more than 50 submitted works in the scripted and unscripted categories by an expert jury comprising members from the companies Beta Film, Rai, Zig Zag Productions, Script Angel, Joyrider, Croatian and Serbian public broadcasters HRT and RTS, Telekom Srbija, and CineLink.

In the days leading up to the event, lecturer from Script Angel Hayley McKenzie will lead a workshop dealing with screenwriting, creating an original script, story development, character development, ideas and creating a story world. It will also include various exercises, assignments and pitching sessions.
