Les Arcs’ Work in Progress section crowns Rossosperanza its champion

Unspooling within the Industry Village of the 14th Les Arcs Film Festival, the Work in Progress section consisting of 12 feature films has delivered its verdict by way of three prizes.

The main jury (including Ava Cahen, Louisa Dent and Ursula Meier) has awarded the TitraFilm Prize (consisting of 10,000 euros in image and sound post-production services) to Rossosperanza [+see also:

, the second feature film by Italy’s Annarita Zambrano (discovered in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section in 2017 via After the War [+see also:

). Written by the director and Lorenzo Callegari, the story unfolds in 1989. After a violent accident, Zena is sent by her parents to a clinic for problem children hailing from comfortable backgrounds. Here she meets other teens rebelling against the corrupt and privileged environment into which they were born… Production is steered by Maria Carolina Terzi on behalf of Mad Entertainment, in co-production with Minerva Pictures and Paris-based TS Productions.

The Alphapanda Audience Engagement Prize (focused on the digital marketing of films, consisting of 5,000 euros, and awarded by a jury including Florence Gastaud) went to Veni Vidi Vici [+see also:

by Austria’s Daniel Hoesl (victorious in Rotterdam in 2013 via Soldier Jane [+see also:

). Penned by the director, the story revolves around Viktoria and Amon Maynard and their children, who lead the near-perfect life of a billionaire family. Amon is an ardent hunter, but he doesn’t shoot animals. Anything goes… Veni Vidi Vici is a film about winners and losers, about us and others… Ulrich Seidl Filmproduktion are managing the project.

Last but not least, the 22D Music Prize (consisting of 10,000 euros for funding the production of an original soundtrack) was won by Hunters on a White Field by Sweden’s Sarah Gyllenstierna (produced by MostAlice Film AB).
