When East Meets West streams on Cineuropa

- The Italian event features a handful of sessions that are being held in Trieste and will be streamed live by Cineuropa over the next few days

The 2023 edition of When East Meets West (WEMW) is all set to kick off, running from 22-25 January with a full schedule lined up (see the news). Cineuropa and WEMW are long-time partners, and for the first time, some of the events of the leading Italian event will be streamed on our platform.

Thinking about film marketing usually takes place once the movie is finished and, in most cases, focuses on the choice of stills, writing the synopsis, and creating the poster and the trailer. However, this comes too late and is not enough any more. With digital tools, there are so many other ways to reach different audiences with various assets and ideas, which would ultimately help to build awareness of the film and grow the number of viewers. And the key moment in a film's lifetime is the premiere - at a festival and/or in theatres. Based on case studies, this talk aims to give the audience hands-on tips on how to use digital tools to better understand the audience and to reach it with a meaningful, tailor-made campaign. In this overview, we will explore the current opportunities and challenges facing local language scripted series as the production landscape, fueled by global streamers, is in constant flux; affecting genres, budgets, deal-making and creative decisions. We will also, hopefully, provide you with some practical tips and tools, as well as work through key terms and detail the stages and partners necessary for successfully integrating into the international TV production community. 23 Jan 15:00: Accelerate IMPACT: Bring Impactful Films to the Right Audiences

A global pioneer in film impact production, Think-Film founder and CEO Danielle Turkov Wilson joins in with proceedings virtually to share her thoughts on the investment opportunity of impact, and explain how Think-Film works across Europe as well as internationally to bring impactful films to the right audiences for real-world value and change. Plus, Amy Shepherd (Think Film Impact Production) will offer her input, in collaboration with ESoDoc.
