Al Jazeera Documentary Industry Days @ AJB DOC launches its call for projects

AJD Industry Days @ AJB DOC invites European and international documentary professionals to submit their projects via the Submit a Project Form. The submission window is open from 1 March-31 May. The total prize fund provided by the Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, Al Jazeera Balkans and all project partners in 2022 was $80,000, and a comparable prize fund will be available in 2023.

The Al Jazeera Documentary Channel intends to support the expansion of documentaries worldwide, including international co-productions, and introduce exciting and valuable projects to key decision makers. AJD Industry Days @ AJB DOC is announcing a call for the following categories:

  • Main Pitch – all stages of project development for projects by independent filmmakers and production companies;
  • Work in Progress – projects at the post-production stage, intended for broadcasting on Al Jazeera or other international broadcasters and platforms;
  • Balkan Stars – projects at the development stage, suitable for regional and international co-production with Al Jazeera Balkans/Al Jazeera Documentary or other broadcasters.

The AJD Industry Days @ AJB DOC platform will provide documentary filmmakers from Southeast Europe, the Caucasus, the Middle East and the North Africa (MENA) region with an opportunity to network with decision makers and leading professionals from both the regional and international film and TV industries.

The teams behind the accepted projects will be informed accordingly and will be invited to present their projects on site in Sarajevo in front of this year’s board of international broadcasters and prominent professionals, who will decide on the winners. They will then obtain funding for documentary production, and support for their broadcast, distribution, screening and worldwide sales.
