“It has been an unforgettable experience, during which I have had the privilege of working with a spectacular cast and crew. After shooting on beaches, volcanoes and boats, and in incredible landscapes, we have begun the editing, another beautiful stage in this project, during which we will solidify and give shape to all of the effort and affection that everyone has contributed,” remarked García-Ruiz. “I think we have a very strong foundation on which to build an ensemble comedy for all kinds of audiences. I hope that people will enjoy watching it as much as I have enjoyed working together with an unbeatable cast who breathed life into our three wonderful families,” sums up the filmmaker.

With a screenplay written by David Marqués (whose work has just been showcased in Low Season [+see also:

, freshly released in Spain), the film tells of how street sweeper Alonso (played by Roberto Álamo) and tarot reader Marisa (Malena Alterio), the proprietors of a delicatessen Torres and Fátima (Jordi Sánchez and María Botto), plastic surgeon Calatrava (Julián López) and influencer Vicky (Kira Miró) have booked a house in the middle of nowhere on the Canary Islands, where they hope to spend the best holidays of their lives with their respective broods.

What they don’t know is that, because of a mistake made by the travel agency they used, they have all rented the same house. And none of them is willing to back out, although there is not much of an alternative anyway, which means that they will be forced to share the same living space for the whole of the summer. The glaring differences between each and every one of the occupants will turn these days into a chaotic series of entertaining and messed-up situations. Despite this whole disaster, they have to learn how to live together and how to understand all of these wildly different people – and, above all else, themselves.

I Hate Summer is a production by Ghislain Barrois and Álvaro Augustin (Telecinco Cinema) together with Miguel Menéndez de Zubillaga (Mono Pictures AIE), in conjunction with Sony Pictures International Productions (which is also in charge of its international sales), and with the involvement of Mediaset España and Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group. The movie will be distributed in Spain by Sony Pictures Entertainment Iberia.
