The duo of filmmakers have already forged an acclaimed career as short-film directors (the capers Cariño, me he follado a Bunbury, No es fácil ser… Gorka Otxoa and Una noche con Juan Diego Botto are just some of their efforts so far), and now they will take a step forwards with this project, which took part in the second edition of the Film Academy Residencies programme. The movie is being shot over five weeks in various locations in Miami and Madrid.

According to the synopsis, César and Teresa (played by Silva and Jiménez) are a perfectly happy couple, but one night, she sleeps with Coque Malla, who has been her boyfriend’s great idol since his teenage years. The woman, feeling regretful, confesses to her boyfriend, but he doesn’t know how to react. Because… Is being unfaithful with your erotic fantasy excusable? But the thing is, Teresa has slept with César’s, and there is no standard rulebook for this. That’s why the fan has to talk to the musician. And so, they travel to Miami in search of him, while simultaneously reconsidering their 15-year relationship and, while they’re at it, their own lives.

In the words of the directors/screenwriters: “Idol Affair is a romantic comedy about a couple in the midst of an existential crisis, who travel in search of a legend, but who are actually looking for their own identity.” The movie’s technical crew is rounded off by Javier Salmones, serving as director of photography; Alicia Tellería, taking care of the production management; art director Vanesa de la Haza; Sergio Burmann, in charge of sound; Rebeca Durán, overseeing the wardrobe; and head of make-up Patricia Rodríguez.

Idol Affair is a Beatriz Bodegas (the winner of the Goya Award in 2017 for The Fury of a Patient Man [+see also:
