Romand Monnier for the Library

The conflict is now over, the objectives have been defined, the reform to the statutes was confirmed on September 22, additional funds have bene allocated and there’s a new team at the top. The French Film Library has seen a real revolution since the appointment of Serge Toubiana as director general on April 28. Following Claude Berri’s arrival as the new president last month, now the final member of the management team is on board. He’s Michel Romand-Monnier and he will be overseeing the project to move the “temple of cinema”, which is due to take place in the spring of 2005.

Michel Romand-Monnier’s official title is additional director general of the French Film Library and his mission will be “the organisation of the new management chart, under the re-grouping of the Library and the Film Archive, as part of their jointly sharing the premises in Rue de Bercy”. The 49 year old has also held the position of audiovisual and multimedia director at the Centre National de la Cinématographie before moving to Technicolor (subsidiary of the Thomson group) in 2002 where he worked on European digital cinema.
The French ministry of culture has earmarked a budget of €11.3 million in 2004 for the building of the new Library-Archive at Bercy.
