Claudia Cardinale in Brussels
As part of the Europalia Italia exhibition, the Royal Belgium Film Library and Flagey have organised a special evening, to be held on December 5, when the Italian actress, Claudia Cardinale, will present Luchino Visconti’s film The Leopard. This masterpiece of Italian cinema was made in 1963, and it follows the troubles of an aristocratic family in Palermo, during the time when Garibaldi’s troops land in Sicily. The films stars Cardinale alongside the French actor Alain Delon and the American Burt Lancaster and it will be presented in its restored version. The screening will be held in Flagey’s Grand Room, Studio 4. (Phone bookings: +32 2 641 10 20).
Then, form December 6 onwards, the Cinema Museum will be putting on a wide programme reflecting the fruitful career of the Italian actress. It will feature her early works like Persons Unknown by Mario Monicelli and include some of her unforgettable performances directed by great authors like Abel Gance, Luchino Visconti and Federico Fellini.
