From November 7 to 15, 2003, the Image Centre in Saint-Gervais will be hosting the 10th edition of the Biennale of the Image in Movement (BIM) in Geneva. This year is concentrating on the discovery of many horizons, with films from Eastern Europe, the Orient, India and South Africa. For the first time, the Point of View Prize (with a contribution of 3,000 Swiss Francs) will be awarded to one of the 46 works in the international competition. The Focus section is dedicated to young artists and it will be featuring 6 short films by the Swiss video director Gianni Motti, Karima by the Frenchwoman Clarisse Hahn, 100% by the Indian Mamta Murthy and 4 films by the Palestinian Rashid Masharawi. There will also be 5 meetings on the theme of Artistic Creation as an act of Resistance and retrospectives dedicated to Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet, Harun Farocki, William Kentridge and Artavazd Pelechian, thus highlighting the aim of this year’s programme to give cinema a prominent role in the proceedings.
