The Spanish Film Academy set to host 26 audiovisual projects
- Seasoned directors such as Pablo Maqueda, Álvaro Pulpeiro and Carlos Villafaina are among those selected for the brand-new editions of the Residencias and Rueda programmes

Residencias (a programme designed to provide support to cinematographic creators, developed by the Spanish Film Academy with backing from Madrid City Council) and Rueda (a programme for audiovisual development organised by the Film Academy Foundation, funded by the Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute and by the European Union/NextGeneration) have already picked the 26 projects that will be taking part in their fifth and second editions, respectively.
After weighing up the 732 propositions that were submitted, an evaluation committee chose the lucky ones that would be taking part in the 2023-2024 Residencias programme. They are Caro Nanni by Pablo Maqueda (who released Girl Unknown [+see also:

This means that a grand total of 20 propositions have been chosen, of which 11 are fiction features, four are documentaries, two are animations and three are fiction series. The 20 filmmakers who have been selected will begin their residency in October, and up until the end of June 2024, they will enjoy access to the resources and support necessary for the development of their audiovisual projects. The Film Academy’s Madrid headquarters will serve as the location for this programme, and the academy will offer the creators a monthly financial contribution, help with moving and accommodation costs for those who do not live in the Community of Madrid, consultations with mentors, participation in the Film Academy’s activities and permanent contact with the industry.
Meanwhile, Ignacio Acconcia (with Cara sucia), Eva Valiño (El nido), Isla bonita [+see also:

It is aimed at both national and foreign screenwriters who, owing to their geographical location, professional circumstances or family commitments, wish to develop their projects online. They will nonetheless come together at various in-person meetings in different Spanish cities during the course.
