There are 8 nominations for Belgium films for the upcoming European Film Awards, taking place in berlin on December 6, 2003.
Three short films will be competing for the European Film Academy Short Film 2003-Prix UIP. They are: La chanson-chanson by Xavier Diskeuve (winner of the UIP Prize in Gand), Mamaman by Lao Lethem (UIP prize from Angers) and Le Portefeuille by Vincent Bierrewaerts (UIP prize at Sarajevo). Belgium also confirms its reputation for documentary making par excellence with three co-productions in the running for the European Academy Documentary 2003 - Prix Arte: Whose is this song ? by Adela Peeva, The Five Obstructions by Jorgen Leth and Lars von Trier, and L’Odyssée de l’Espèce by Jacques Malaterre.
The Jameson People’s Choice Awards 2003 features nominations for Jans Decleir in the category of Best Actor and Antje De Boeck in the Best Actress category, both short-listed for their outstanding performances in the Belgium film Hop, by Dominique Standaert.
