The short film, The Most Beautiful Man In The World directed by British newcomer Alicia Duffy has won the £10,000 “TCM Best Short Film of 2003”, as part of the Times bfi London Film Festival, which closed last night.

The film, supported by the UK Film Council, tells the story of a young girl searching for something to do on a hot day when she aimlessly walks into the path of a stranger. Jude Law, a jury member together with Ralph Fiennes, Bernardo Bertolucci, Stephen Frears, John Madden and Ismail Merchant, said that the film was “beautifully shot”, and that he “loved its simplicity and atmosphere”.
The LFF Sutherland Trophy was awarded to Osama, the first film from post-Taliban Afghanistan, directed by Siddiq Barmak. “Osama is a timely and distinctive piece of film-making, bringing a major new talent to the international film-making community”, said Sandra Hebron, the artistic director of the LFF. The film will be released in the UK by ICA Projects.
