This year’s prize given to an author who perpetuates the memory of one of the most famous screenwriters and dialogue writers of French Cinema has been awarded to a Canadian. The SACD management committee (the Society of Authors and Dramatists) has given this year’s Henri-Jeanson Prize to Denys Arcand for his film that has already been awarded at the last Cannes Festival (for the Screenplay and Best Actress): Barbarian Invasions [+see also:

The film is co-produced and distributed by the French company Pyramide, and it has registered an audience of almost 1.1million in France since it was released in 455 prints on September 24. The Henri-Jeanson prize has once again highlighted the close cultural and linguistic links that exist between Quebec and France.
Last year’s prize winner was Michel Blanc, and his Summer Things, and in 2001 the award was given to Bertrand Blier for Les acteurs. Other previous winners include Dominik Moll and Gilles Marchand (Harry, He's Here to Help, 1999), Pascal Bonitzer (1998) and the couple Robert Guédiguian/Jean-Michel Milési in 1997.
