Cinedays in Olso

The 2003 festival of European cinema, Cinedays, is being celebrated one month later in Norway (from November 15-20) with the screening of some 18 European films at the Norwegian Film Institute’s Filmens Hus (Film House), the cinematheque and with special workshops open to school children and students.

Organised by the Norwegian Film Institute (NFI), in cooperation with the EU initiatives Cinedays and Netdays (promoting the use of new technologies in education and culture), the six days European film promotion will open in Oslo with the screening of the Norwegian hit Buddy (over 250,000 admissions) followed by a workshop on the making of the film’s score. The seminar will be attended by Buddy’s director, Morten Tyldum, producer Gudny Hummelvoll (Happy Endings) and the music composer, Lars Lillo Stenberg. Other workshops available live on the internet (at: www.mzoon.no) will be dedicated to film writing and film production.
The European films that will screen during the event include the classics Triumph Of The Will from Germany (1936), Bille August’ s Danish Tro Håp og Kjærlighet (1990), Michael Verhoeven’s Das Schreckliche Mädchen (1989), as well as the UK productions Wallace and Gromit The Wrong Trousers and Chicken Run, Elektra from Greece and La ardilla roja from Spain.
