Animation in Espinho

The 27th edition of Cinanima - Animation International Film Festival- is taking place in Espinho (Northern Portugal) till Sunday (16/11). This year, besides the competitive section, the festival includes a workshop directed by Menno de Nooijer, debates, shows and other activities. There are 99 films from 29 countries in competition and a lot more in exhibition.
There are new awards this year. The Atalanta's award will be granted for the first time in a film festival and will reward the best European short film in international competition. The winner will also have a commercial release to complement a feature film distributed by Atalanta.
There is also the FNAC award (Best Portuguese Screenplay Award and the Best
Portuguese Film Award in international competition ) and out of competition,
the "António Maria Prize", created in 2002, that goes to Servais Tiago, for
his career in animated films, especially in the advertising sector.
The 'Cartoon D'or' award (elected by all festivals in Europe associated with
the 'Cartoon') will also be delivered.
This year, the 'Cartoon D'or' goes to Sandra Desmazières for “Sans Que ni
Tête.”
