European Industry at risk

The future of the audiovisual industry in Europe is at risk. The warning has come from 200 experts who were meeting in Taormina (Italy) to discuss the reform of the support systems for the European audiovisual industry, especially in the light of the upcoming European enlargement to 25 countries. The “industry is at risk of being left behind because of a lack of funding". At the end of the two days of discussions, the head of the Italian film board, Gianni Profita, who was the host at the event, presented a final document, which highlighted the need to "increase the funds for the audiovisual industry". Profita stressed that "We want to this document to provide supporting material for the meeting of the European Council of Ministers on November 24, led by the Italian minister of culture, Giuliano Urbani".
