He has written his new work himself alongside his long-time collaborator Santiago Fillol, and it stars the Catalan actor Sergi López (César Award and European Film Award for Best Actor for Harry, He’s Here to Help, and recently seen in the series Iron Reign), and the very young Bruno Núñez (who appeared in the series La Mesías [+see also:

playing the character played as an adult by Roger Casamajor) together with a group of non-professional actors, a common theme in the Galician filmmaker’s work.

The plot introduces a man (Sergi López) and his son (Bruno Núñez) who arrive at a rave in the middle of the arid and ghostly mountains of southern Morocco. They are looking for their respective daughter and sister, who disappeared months ago at one of these raging parties. Driven by fate, they decide to follow a group of "ravers" in search of one last party to be held in the desert, in the hope that she will be there.

According to Laxe, “Life will challenge the characters, it will put them to the test in a radical and stark way, it will force them to ask themselves important questions, to look inside, to search for the meaning of life, to bring out of themselves the most beautiful part of human nature. And they will experience extreme adventures where the boundaries between life and death will be irrevocably blurred." He goes on to say, "Sergi López will star in this journey accompanied by Bruno Núñez and a group of non-professional international actors. Together they will be the vehicle for staging the convulsions affecting the world of our time, a time that is asking us all to look within.”

Shot in super 16mm with cinematographer Mauro Herce (Goya Award for Fire Will Come), this film (which was submitted for the Spanish Ministry of Culture grants under the title After - read more) is a Movistar Plus+ original produced in collaboration with El Deseo, the Almodóvar brothers' company, Filmes Da Ermida, Uri Films and the French company 4A4 Productions. It is supported by Agadic, ICEC, ICAA and CNC, as well as the Creative Europe MEDIA programme and Eurimages. Its international sales will be managed by The Match Factory, and it will be distributed in Spain by Bteam Pictures.
