Fipresci for Marco Bellocchio

This year’s Critics’ European Film Award, the Fipresci prize, is being given to the Italian director, Marco Bellocchio for his film, Good Morning, Night [+see also:

film profile]. The award will be given to the director during the ceremony for the European Oscars, taking place in Berlin on December 6, 2003. The winner of last year’s Fipresci prize was Ken Loach, with Sweet Sixteen [+see also:

The reasons behind this year’s choice were outlined like this: “By giving its prize of the Best European Film of the Year 2003 to Marco Bellocchio's Good Morning, Night, FIPRESCI wants to single out not only a masterpiece, one of the author’s best, but also an outstanding filmography, which goes back to 1965 and comprises more than twenty films".
