The European MFI Script 2 Film Workshops, organised by the Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI), are starting again this year on the Southeast Aegean islands. This year, for the 25th edition, the MFI received a record-breaking 225 applications from 377 professionals in writing, directing, producing and script editing from 52 countries. The applications were for the film, series and documentary labs, as well as for trainer traineeships.

The organisers have selected 23 feature-length scripts, three series scripts, six documentary projects and five trainees without their own projects, all of whom will receive script development and team coaching. A total of 53 participants from 19 different countries, along with trainers, staff, guests and students attending the programme, will journey to the volcanic island of Nisyros. This gathering will form a community of over 100 individuals, all dedicated to intensive work and mutual learning. The inaugural session of the 2024 MFI Script 2 Film Workshops is scheduled to take place entirely on location in Nisyros, from 21 June-3 July.
