Film Screenings in Lanzarote
71 international buyers from 29 countries will be taking part in the Spanish Film Screenings, which are being organised on the island of Lanzarote (the Canaries) from November 27 to 29, 2003.
It’s an opportunity not to be missed, and not just for producers and distributors looking for a wide overview of the Spanish cinematographic market, but also for Spanish professionals who are trying to find a foreign market for their films.
However, this fifth edition of the event has seen a marked drop in participant numbers. 300 buyers attended the first Screenings, and there were more than 120 sales for 51 films with companies from 20 countries, then in 2002 the numbers dropped to 92 buyers, with around 70 sales deals. The event is organised by the ICAA, in collaboration with ICEX, FAPAE and the Canary Islands authorities. The 2003 Screenings will feature 35 of the most recent Spanish productions, and will include participation by important Spanish companies like Sogepaq, which will be selling some of the successful films from the past and present season ( Take My Eyes [+see also:

Then there’s Lola Films with the Spanish candidate up for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2004, Soldiers of Salamina, ¡Buen viaje, Excelencia! and the company Tornasol Films will be presenting Life Marks, The Galindez File and So Far Away.
The films having their national premieres at the event are El coche de pedales by Ramon Barea, which will be the opening film at the Screenings, the film by Santi Amodeo, Austronautas and Kill Me Tender by Ramon de España.
