09/07/2024 - International film buyers from around the globe attended the event in Potsdam from 3-6 July

Following last year's successful German Films Previews in Potsdam, German Films invited film buyers to come to the Brandenburg state capital once again at the beginning of July. International film buyers from around the globe attended the annual event, which celebrated its 24th edition from 3-6 July. The event registered buyers from the USA, Australia, Argentina, Mexico, Taiwan, Israel and Lebanon, as well as from Europe, from Spain to Poland and Estonia, and from Turkey, through Greece, all the way to the UK.

A total of 72 buyers watched films in the UCI Luxe Potsdam cinemas over the three days. The programme was very diverse, encompassing movies in different categories, of various genres and covering a wide range of topics. A total of 14 films were shown in their entirety, ranging from dramas to children's flicks. The Upcoming section had a total of nine new projects being presented by representatives of sales companies. A total of 16 sales agents unveiled their new projects at this year’s German Films Previews.

Apart from the feature-film programme consisting of fiction films, animated pictures and documentaries, the German Films Previews also included the Upcoming Films from Germany and Producers Present sections. The former is presented by the sales companies in order to cast a spotlight on their German films that are still in production, and the latter is presented by German producers to showcase current projects that are still works in progress and don’t yet have a sales agent attached.

German Films has been organising the annual German Films Previews event since 2001. International distributors and buyers are invited to Germany to see new German films on cinema screens over the course of three days. The German Films Previews offer the perfect setting for effective networking, sales meetings and exchanges of information for the three target groups: buyers, sales agents and producers.
