The San Sebastián International Film Festival will host its third annual Creative Investors’ Conference on 24 and 25 September within the scope of Spanish Screenings: Financing & Tech.

The gathering will include a series of panels and discussions (open to festival industry badge holders), and private networking activities. Again organised in collaboration with talent agency CAA Media Finance, the conference will tackle topics of discussion such as an analysis of the current landscape of the US and European film industries; international opportunities for the Spanish market; an examination of the Korean film marketplace; how producers are benefiting from new ways of collaborating; and where the film industry and film financing is heading in the future.

The event will welcome companies including Anton Corp, Charades, Goodfellas, Globalgate, K&S Films, LuckyChap, The Match Factory, Plus M Entertainment, MUBI, Netflix and many more. The conference will also include a fireside talk with veteran UK producer Jeremy Thomas, the founder of Recorded Picture Company and its sister company Hanway Films. The full programme is available here.

Spanish Screenings: Financing & Tech is also organising Zinemaldia & Technology, whose central initiative is the Zinemaldia Startup Challenge, set to take place on 26 September. Ten technology projects, five from Spain and five from other European countries, will feature in the competition, dedicated to entrepreneurs and recently created startups applying new technologies to the audiovisual field. The programme will include pitching sessions for the projects and a round-table on generative AI, moderated by AC Coppens (The Catalysts). The project representatives will subsequently have the opportunity to meet potential partners. The full selection, which this year sees artificial intelligence playing the lead part, is available here.

Spanish Screenings: Financing & Tech is part of Spanish Screenings XXL, a project boasting the involvement of the Ministry of Culture through the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), the Ministry for Digital Transformation and of Civil Service, through ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, the Málaga Festival, and the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
