Antonio has to return to Ecija, a city in inland Andalusia, after a long time away. It is Easter. There, he is reunited with his family and his twin brother Javier, who has a physical disability and needs his help. Antonio will have to deal with this situation and face a difficult decision: stay and help his family, or return to the life he has built outside.

film profile], the first feature by Spanish director Sandra Romero, which is having its world premiere in the New Directors section of the San Sebastián International Film Festival (20-28 September).
Romero has directed the short films Una habitación propia (2018), El perro de un torero (2022) and Por donde pasa el silencio (2020), winner of the Silver Biznaga for Best Short Film at the Málaga Festival and the basis for her first feature of the same title; at the project stage, she participated with it in the Berlin Film Festival's Script Station and the Spanish Film Academy Residencies. As Silence Passes By stars Antonio Araque, Javier Araque, María Araque and Mona Martínez. The film was produced by Spanish companies Playa Chica Films (Ignacio Vuelta Martínez), Mammut Films (Sara de la Fuente Monedero, Álvaro Díaz Calvo and Alberto Tortes Castelló), Icónica Producciones (José Nolla Fernández) and Aúna Producciones (Amaya Izquierdo Lorenzo). Spanish firm Latido Films handles its international sales.
