- The section of the Albacete film festival that promotes independent cinema this year welcomes works by Sara Sálamo, Àlex Monner, Pablo Maqueda, Ion de Sosa and Guillermo García López, among others

Abycine Lanza to award the best of its 23 candidate projects
Sleepless City by Guillermo García López, selected in the Impulso Work In Progress section

A key event in autumn for Spanish independent cinema in La Mancha is  Abycine Lanza, the industry section of Abycine – Albacete Independent Film Festival. It will celebrate its ninth edition between 15 and 18 October, helping both the development of new projects and the completion of feature films in an advanced stage of production. This year, 16 titles in development and seven feature films in post-production will be presented.

The Impulso CMM Desarrollo section represents an industry space hosting projects that have been chosen based on their originality and quality; the perfect forum for talent and good ideas to germinate and find fellow companions. Pitching, networking spaces, events and round tables, among other activities, will provide the perfect environment to promote all these projects. Once again this year, Abycine Lanza is supported by Castilla-La Mancha Media and the finalists will be eligible for one of two grants of €17,250 each offered by the public organisation.

The Madrid Film and Audiovisual School (ECAM) is again collaborating with the film festival, and this year will offer other prizes and incentives. And for the first time, Porto/Post/Doc will collaborate and one of the projects in development will be selected to participate in the festival next November. The Co-Production Forum, organised by ECAM, will also select a project to participate. Music library&SFX will also award personalised advice and the rights to use the music on its platform.

Among the projects presented here (please see the complete list at the end) are Hortelana, by the actress Sara Sálamo (seen in films such as Everybody Knows [+see also:
