As part of the industry activities of the second edition of the South International Series Festival, the South Boost section took place last Monday in Cadiz, where six Andalusian titles in development were presented, which are detailed below.

Blanca Bocanegra 
Showrunner: Julio Blez
Production: Fidel Pérez (La Favorita Produce)
The generational dramedy and autofiction in six 40-minute episodes portrays Julio, who has just turned 40. He is struggling to get a job in the audiovisual industry, has no money and is fed up with the world, but he has an idea: to write a series about himself. In doing so, however, what he doesn't realise is that his identity crisis will push him further over the edge than ever before.

El obituarista
Showrunner: Francisco Artacho
Production: Inés Nofuentes
The drama follows an intern at Seville's oldest newspaper in 1999, who has to manage the obituary section, with obituaries of ordinary people. The young journalist with who enjoys going out at night has to learn to immerse himself in a world that is very different from his own: the mortuary and funeral parlour.

El Puerto
Showrunners: Lisi Linder, Mamén Camacho, Andrea del Río and Irene Ferrándiz
Production: Ricard Sales (Lacima Producciones)
The six 45-50 minute episodes of this dramatic thriller follow five women who return to their families in the summer to the place where they grew up. They haven't seen each other for years, but on the night of San Juan they will discover a secret that their mothers have hidden: one of them is the daughter of another woman, called Elisa. The investigation into her past will turn their present upside down.

Hotel Paraíso 
Showrunner: Vanesa de la Haza
Production: Salvador Yagüe and Olmo Figueredo
The black comedy miniseries Hotel Paraíso, with seven 25-minute episodes, will make the audience a witness to the decision made by each of its guests. For this service, a themed hotel will have everything ready to be the director of your own story.

La Roca
Showrunner: Rocío Sepúlveda and Raúl Mancilla
Production: Teresa Segura
This historical thriller with six 50-minute episodes takes place during the 1960s on the border between Gibraltar and La Línea de la Concepción, which thousands of Spaniards cross daily to work on the Rock. Manuel Guerrero, a Guardia Civil captain with an impeccable record, arrives with his family to this new posting. His mission is to control smuggling on the border, becoming the main enemy of a family of ingenious smugglers, Los Vivos.

El futuro del ayer 
Showrunner: Víctor Fernández and Jorge Mata
Direction: Ángel Tirado and Víctor Fernández
Production: Dracma 3D SL and Tarkemoto
The cultural entertainment docuseries for all audiences of eight 20-minute episodes will include expert interviews, archive material and animation. It gives an overview of the visions that fiction has depicted of the future over time. Desires and yearnings that aim to counteract the limits of our human condition, to move us forward as a society and to gain greater control over nature, but which also have a dark underbelly in the form of dystopias.
