Rendez-vous for Belleville?

After being chosen to be shown out of competition at the last Cannes Film Festival, according to figures released by Unifrance it has had an audience of more than 800,000 in France, and has taken €1,8 at box offices around the world. And now the French-Belgium-Canadian co-production is among the 11 candidates up for the 2004 Oscar for Best Animation Film.
The full list of nominated films was issued on November 19 and it is made up of 6 American films (including the favourite, Nemo), three Japanese productions and Jester Till the German film by Eberhard Junkersdorf, produced by Munich Animation Film, in collaboration with CP Medien and De Familie Janssen, with support from FFA, the Munich Film Fund and Eurimages.
But there’s it’s still wide open as Belleville Rendez-Vous still has to through a further selection procedure before it can be certain to make it to the final ceremony, on February 29, 2004. The film is produced by Didier Brunner (Les Armateurs – France), Viviane Vanfleteren (Vivi Film – Belgium), Paul Cadieux (Production Champion – Canada), Régis Ghezelbash (RGP France), Colin Rose (BBC Bristol) and France 3 Cinéma.
