MEDIA: last awards for 2003

by 

110 separate projects from 22 countries will receive funding from the 5th and final selection for the MEDIA Plus programme, while 61 production companies from 14 countries will be given grants as part of the “slate funding” (for groups of projects), worth a total of €8,895,000.
7 out of the 110 individual projects are Spanish and they will receive a total of €310,000. There are 4 feature length films in this list: La suerte de la fea produced by Fernando Colomo PC (€50,000), La vidas de Celia by Oberòn Cinematografica (€50,000), Lo mejor para los dos by Miranda Producciones (€40,000) and No me llamas abuelo by Producciones Cinematgorafica del Mediterraneo (€40,000). There is also an animation project, Nocturna by Bren Entertainment (€80,000) and there are two documentaries, Dalì, la casa oscura del genio by Alea Tv (€30,000) and En alas del HispanoSuiza by Medianimaciòn (€20,000).

There are three Spanish production companies in the “Slate Funding” category. The Galician firm Continental Producciones, which is being given €90,000 to develop a minimum of 3 projects, up to a maximum figure of 9 projects; the Catalan company Just Film will receive €125,000 for a maximum of 15 projects and finally Productora Videocomunicaciò will be given €90,000.
When these figures are added to the totals for 2003, the MEDIA Plus programme has awarded a total of €990,000 to Spanish cinema, amounting to 6.6% of the €15 million distributed this year.
