€2.3 million for Flemish cinema

The Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (VAF) has decided to fund 21 projects out of the 55 sent in, to the tune of €2,239,000.
Three feature length films have been given production support: Een ander ziin geluk by Fien Troch with a grant of €625,000 (produced by Prime Time); Le silence d’Alexandre by Jean-Jacques Andrien gets €150,000 (A Priveta View Production); and finally there’s €50,000 for Twelve Seasons by Thierry Knauff (Les Films du Sablier). There are also grants for three short films: Il Quarto Stato by Marcell Ivanyi (Limited Adventures) receives €43,863; an award of €87,500 is being given to Los Hervideros by Jan De Coster (Inti Films) and €40,000 is going to Martin Calme by Annick Ghijzelings (Lumière Productie). The documentary De laatste reis by Georges Kamanayo (Videocam) has received €25,000 and the drama series Koning van de Wereld by Guido Henderickx, written by Marc Didden, will receive €1 million (Roses are Blue Film).

Two feature length films are being given funding in the production help category: Gekkenwerk by Robbe De Hert, produced by Minerva Pictures (€69,000) and Louise by Frank Van Mechelen, produced by Skyline Entertainment (€33,000), as well as a grant for the series Mythologies 14-18 by Raoul Servais and Dominique Standaert, produced by Lumière Producties (€72,500).
The funding for screenplays is being given to 8 feature length films: Dokter Simon Falbeck by Geoffrey Enthoven (Fobic Films, €6,250), Het Koningsdrama by Willem Wallyn (Luna Films, €12,500), The Male Brain by Pieter Van Hees (€6,250), My Queen Karo by Dorothée van den Berghe, Lumière Productie & K2 (€6,250), Het Nimmermeer by Willem Thijssen with a screenplay by Pieter De Graeve (Cinétévé, €12,500), State of Grace by Patrice Toye (€12,500), Suspect by Guy Lee Thys & Ivan Boeckmans (Fact & Fiction, €12,500) and Tour de France by Rudolf Mestdagh with a screenplay written by Rik D’hiet (Cosmo Kino, €12,500). VAF has also awarded a grant for post-production of €37,500 to the short film Allicante Spain 1933 by Wim Michiels (production by Michiels-Jensen) and another of €15,000 to the experimental work I’m happy men by (VOTNIK).
