series profile], which took a witty and insightful look at adult relationships, Leticia Dolera returns with her new six-part Spanish show Pubertat – Secrets, Lies, and Human Castles. The drama series, boarded internationally by Beta Film, shifts the focus to the delicate dynamics between parents and their teenage children, examining the possibility of rediscovering lost love against a backdrop of secrets and lies. It is set to take part in the London TV Screenings.

Set in a Catalonian town renowned for its long-standing tradition of building human towers, or castells, Pubertat uses this UNESCO-declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity as a metaphor for the interconnectedness of its community. The castells represent not only a stunning spectacle but also a symbol of the collective strength derived from its members, from the youngest to the oldest. However, this tight-knit harmony is shattered when a sexual assault accusation emerges within the castells group, revealing the vulnerability of human relationships and exposing the disruptive role of social media across generations. The accusations stir tension, with most town and castell members attempting to downplay the events that transpired during a pivotal local festival night - almost all, that is.

Dolera also stars in the series, alongside a talented ensemble cast including Xavi Saez (Money Heist, Perfect Life), Betsy Turnez (Perfect Life), Anna Alarcón (Welcome to Eden), Biel Duran (La Mesías [+see also:

Reflecting on the themes at the heart of Pubertat, Dolera said: “Puberty marks a time of significant change, when the discovery of sexuality and the transformations in our bodies can leave us feeling vulnerable. In a society that both objectifies sexuality and yet treats it as a taboo, how do teenagers navigate this landscape? And what about adults? This show was born out of these questions and the desire to explore them within the framework of a community.”

Its universal exploration of truth, power, and tradition, paired with its rich cultural context, makes the series resonate with international audiences, extending far beyond its Catalan roots.”

Pubertat – Secrets, Lies, and Human Castles is being produced by Miriam Porté for Distinto Films and Oriol Maymó for Corte y Confección de Películas and Uri Films, and co-produced with 3Cat and Max in Spain. The project was made in collaboration with AT-Productions in Belgium and also received backing from ICEC, the Creative Europe MEDIA programme, and the Eurimages Pilot Programme for Series Co-Productions.
