Balseros on its way
Yet another Spanish work is in the running for the prestigious Hollywood statue. The work is the documentary, Balseros, by Carles Bosch and Josep Maria Doménech and is produced by the Spanish company Bausan Films. It is going forward to the pre-selection stage of the 2004 Oscars for Best Documentary. It’s the story of 7 Cuban emigrants living in America, and it has already been highly acclaimed at the many international festivals where it has been shown, especially at the Sundance Film Festival and the al Miami International Film Fest. It has been bought by the American distributor 7th Arts Releasing, which will be giving it a theatrical release, and the television broadcasting rights have also been bought by HBO.
