Last weekend, Zvonimir Jurić concluded the principal-photography phase of his fourth feature, The Fourth King. The film was shot on location in Zagreb, as well as on the islands of Pašman and Krk in the Adriatic Sea.

The Fourth King is Jurić’s first feature in 11 years. In the meantime, the Croatian filmmaker has worked on the TV series Road Patrol (2016), as well as on collective projects such as Transmania [+see also:

(2014), respectively, both dealt with the 1990s war and its consequences for individuals, and both enjoyed healthy festival exposure in the country and abroad.

The Fourth King is set during one weekend in the winter on an island. An extended family gathers to discuss the sale of the property they inherited, but they are about to make some other important decisions.

The script was written by the filmmaker himself together with journalist, novelist, film critic and film festival curator Jurica Pavičić, while the cast is lead by Marija Škaričić (of Mare [+see also:

The film was lensed by Marko Brdar and will be edited by Ana Štulina. Roko Antolić served as the production designer, while David Morhan designed the costumes. Make-up was handled by Ivana Lončar.

The Fourth King is a co-production between Croatian production company Kinorama (represented by the producers Ankica Jurić-Tilić and Dragan Jurić) and Serbian company Atalanta. It was supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Film Centre Serbia, Creative Europe – MEDIA and Croatian Radio-Television.
