Acclaimed for his short films Klíma (2022) and Menned Kell (2020), Márton István Szabó is scheduled to shoot his debut feature film, Captain Noise (Zajkapitány), in July and August. The cast stars seasoned actor Gábor Dióssi (primarily known as a recurrent character in all 9 seasons of the series Our Little Village) alongside György Böhm, Edit Vlahovics and Gergő Baksa-Soós.

Written by the director together with András Kocsányi, the story revolves around DJ Pápai who is 75 years old and whose hearing is chronically deteriorating. He has to prepare himself for the end of his musical career, but he also wants to prolong his long lost youth by seeking out comfort in young musicians and Tinder dates. His situation becomes even more complicated when he meets an old friend and his ex-wife…

Produced by Monika Mecs on behalf of Inforg-M&M Film, Captain Noise enjoys support from Hungary’s National Film Institute Incubator programme. The 23-25-day film shoot will unfold in Budapest across July and August with Zoltán Dévényi heading up photography. Distribution in Hungarian cinemas will fall to Urania Film.

For the record, Inforg- M&M Film are also overseeing post-production on Ildiko Enyedi’s Silent Friend (read our article).
