Neuenschwander and death

by

After the success of the documentary by Stefan Haupt about the Swiss scientist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross famous for her studies of death, which reached an audience of more than 70,000 in Swiss German cinemas and 60,000 in Germany, the subject has also inspired Jürg Neuenschwander, the director of Q Begegnungen auf der Milchstrasse (2000). In fact, in the film Tôt ou tard, which was released in cinemas on October 23, the filmmaker takes his audience on the trail of the scientist, to give a closer vision of our final destination, just as the scientist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross tried to do.
The film was nominated for the Documentary Achievement Award for this year’s Ida Pare Lorentz Prize. It has gone down well both with the public and the critics. The prize (with a cash award of €2,065) will be handed over to the winner on December 12 in Los Angeles, during a ceremony organised by the Directors Guild of America.
