Documentary Showcase
In collaboration with the Belgium Royal Film Archive and the Henri Storck Fund cinematographic cultural service, there’s a special showcase being put on for Belgium Documentary Cinema, from December 12 to 18 at the Film Museum.
This showcase for Belgium “reality cinema” will show new works by well known filmmakers as well as films by young authors. 80 productions have been sent in and the selection committee has chosen 12 of these to take part in the official competition.
The jury is made up of five documentary specialists, Cis Vierinckx, Bert Hogenkamp, Pierrette Ominetti, Raymond Ravar and Henri Sonet. They will be awarding the Henri Stock prize (€3,500 offered by Sabam) and the prize for the Best Belgium Documentary (€2,500 offered by the French community and Vlaamse Gemeenschap). The films in competition include La décomposition de l’âme by Nina Toussaint & Massimo Iannetta, De l’autre côté by Chantal Akerman, Iran sous le voile des apparences by Thierry Michel, La raison du plus fort by Patric Jean, Le secret perdu de Catherine la Grande by Peter Woditsch and L’homme qui voulait classer le monde by Françoise Levie.
