There’s a national and a European competition, an overview of the first and second works produced by the Old Continent and professional meetings looking at the theme of funding. The 12th edition of the Vendôme Film Festival “Images en région”, (from November 28 to December 5) has a packed programme of events. It is organised by the Regional Centre, with support from the Production Atelier Centre at Val de Loire (APCVL) and by the CNC.

The event looks at the work done in the French regions for production and for the diffusion of films. It will feature a series of debates looking at the current state of film funding offered by the regional associations. On December 3 there’s a discussion on “regional audiovisual production”, on December 4 delegates will debate “the spread of typical cinema” and pon December 5 there’s a look at the theme “the convergence of national and regional policies in for cinema”. On a European level, there’ll be an EAVE Forum and the France-Scandinavian Co-production Ateliers from December 2- 4. These are organised by APCVL with support from ACE ( the Atelier of European Cinema). French producers (Yaël Fogiel and Laetitia Gonzales from Films du Poisson, Bertrand Gore from Sunday Morning Productions, Raphaël Vion from Films du Safran and Frédéric Robbes from FRP) will be holding a closed meeting with the Finnish producer Jarkko Hentula from Talent House, their Danish counterpart Meta Louise Foldager from Nimbus Film and the Swedish producer Johan Fälemark from Illusion Film AB to present a feature length film project and to work out ways of working together.

The Festival is organising its traditional National and European competitions, bringing together films that last from 1 to 59 minutes and which are produced in collaboration with regional associations. There are 21 entries from European countries, representing Northern Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Britain, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark and Sweden. The public will also have the chance to see 11 first and second works that are amongst the best of the 2003 productions, including Noi the Albino by Dagur Kari, Reconstruction by Christoffer Boe, Lilya-4-ever [+see also:
