Futura Cinema is looking for innovative initiatives for the theatrical distribution of cinema

Futura Cinema is a European programme dedicated to innovative initiatives for the distribution of cinema in theatres. It accompanies several projects, co-creators and cultural venues through two programmes: incubation and experimentation. Applications for these two programmes are open until 30 June.

The incubation programme accompanies European projects for emerging tools or solutions over a year, from ideation to prototype, through five steps organised at partner festivals: Strasbourg (FEFFS), Copenhagen (CPH:DOX), Brussels (BRIFF), Vienna (CIMIx) and Hamburg (Filmfest Hamburg). The projects are overseen by experts and a European pilot committee. It boasts an original aspect: it brings together professionals from cinema and innovation, as well as many professionals from other sectors, in order to mix skills and foster collaborative innovation. If you have an idea or wish to contribute to a project, register here.

The experimentation programme allows European cultural spaces to test out one or several mature projects in order to confront them with the realities on the ground. It unfolds in three main stages: Strasbourg (FEFFS), Brussels (BRIFF), and a final restitution during the Les Arcs Summit (Les Arcs Film Festival) in December 2026. If you are a venue or have a project and wish to take part, register here.

Supported by Creative Europe and the CNC, amongst others, Futura Cinema fosters crossed initiatives to encourage innovation and create synergies between territories and professional sectors. Futura Cinemas is aimed at any business or person, whether you come from cinema, innovation, design, social economy or another sector, based in Europe, to foster the development of innovative and collaborative practices.
