The mobile phone company, Orange, has launched ‘Orange Wednesdays’, an exclusive ‘two for one cinema ticket’ offer to its customers, applicable only on Wednesdays, but which will run every week for the next three years and in every cinema across the UK.

The ground-breaking offer has been announced by Orange with the All Industry Marketing Group, promoting cinema-going in the UK for local distributors and exhibitors.

“Orange has always had a heritage in film and aims to be first to develop new and innovative offerings for our customers”, said Jeremy Dale, vice-president of UK marketing for Orange. “Indeed, Orange clients will be able to buy cinema tickets using an innovative new mobile ticketing service: by sending a text message to the number 241, they will be sent a reference number which will give them access at any cinema to the two for one cinema offer”.

As part of an agreement with UK distributors and exhibitors, Orange (which is a major sponsor of the BAFTAs and the London Film Festival), will also offer its customers the possibility to see exclusive film clips and images with ring tones for at least 12 big new feature films for the first month following their theatrical release. The mobile operator hopes that this three-year film promotion and agreement with the local film industry will increase brand loyalty to Orange as well as cinema-going in the UK.
