Fuck the Polis triumphs at FIDMarseille
- The film by Portugal's Rita Azevedo Gomes has won in the international competition; the mid-length film Bonne journée by Pauline Bastard dominated the French competition

Ghassan Salhab, Sophie Cavoulacos and Raúl Camargo, of the international competition jury at the 36th Marseille International Film Festival - FIDMarseille, gave the 2025 Grand Prix to Fuck the Polis by Portuguese filmmaker Rita Azevedo Gomes (popular in particular in competition in Locarno in 2016 with Correspondences [+see also:

Today, she makes that trip again, accompanied by three young men. From one island to the next, between the sky and the sea, the travellers read, listen and live, carried by a desire for beauty and clarity… The production was handled by Basilisco Filmes (the filmmaker’s company).
The Georges de Beauregard Award in the International Competition took the colours of Mexico with the victory of Cold Metal by Clemente Castor and a special mention for Copper by his compatriot Nicolás Pereda.
As for the French competition (whose jury included Gaëlle Obiégly, Matías Piñeiro and Nicolas Boone), it was the mid-length feature Bonne journée by Pauline Bastard which was consecrated, while the Georges de Beauregard National Award went to Hors-champ, les ombres by Anna Dubosc and Gustavo de Mattos Jahn.
Also worth noting is the CNAP Award (highlighting the experimental or innovative dimension of films) which went to Des millénaires d’absence by French filmmaker Philippe Rouy, while the Premier Film competition distinguished Fantaisie by his compatriot Isabel Pagliai.
As for the 17th edition of the co-production platform FIDLab, the jury (Stefan Ivančiċ, Olimpia Pont Cháfer and Pierre-Emmanuel Finzi) also awarded the German production Marcela by Spanish filmmaker Salka Tiziana. Currently in the writing stage, the project relies on two spheres. In the novel Don Quixote from the beginning of the 17th century, Marcela, a young woman leading an independent life as a young shepherdess, defends herself after getting blamed for the suicide of a man who had fallen in love with her. Four centuries later, a shepherdess of the same name and age sets off on a journey to rural Spain on foot, to the heart of its capital, claiming her right to self-sufficiency, resisting capitalist food production.
