Content Europe set to launch in Lisbon in April 2026

Last week, C21Media unveiled Content Europe, a new, three-day market, conference and screenings event that will take place in Lisbon from 21-23 April 2026.

Positioned as a sales and acquisitions hub, the initiative will bring together buyers and sellers of formats as well as factual and drama programming. The market will be accompanied by a two-track conference agenda: the Future Formats Forum and the Content Acquisitions Summit, both designed to highlight emerging content trends, buyer priorities, and opportunities for international sales and co-productions.

The event builds on insights from C21’s premium Content Strategies report strand. David Jenkinson, editor-in-chief and managing director of C21, commented: “Scores of companies have told us there is a need for a traditional sales and acquisitions market in April following the closure of MipTV. Content Europe will be a cost-effective response to that demand, providing affordable exhibition and screenings facilities for distributors that would like to connect with buyers from all over the world.”

Jenkinson added that the organisers will host key international buyers free of charge, and will also engage them through a series of Buyer Briefings, offering insights into their acquisitions and co-production needs.

While formats will take centre stage, the Content Europe Marketplace is set to embrace all genres, ensuring that participants across drama, factual and entertainment find opportunities to connect.

The new event joins C21’s expanding global portfolio, which already includes Content Americas, Create Americas, Content Warsaw, Content Canada, Create Canada, Content London, Create London, Content India and Create India. The company also operates the International Format Awards, the International Drama Awards and the Generation Awards, the latter recognising creativity in generative AI.

Content Europe is backed by C21’s publishing platforms: C21Media.net, DramaQuarterly.com and the Spanish-language CVeintiuno.
