The Phantom of the Opera smiles upon SND

Having kicked off on 28 July, filming on The Phantom of the Opera, the 7th feature film by Alexandre Castagnetti (Amour & Turbulences [+see also:

film profile]), is set to wrap on 26 September and this modern adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s famous work (previously adapted for screen by Brian De Palma, Dario Argento and Joel Schumacher) is already arousing keen interest among international distributors.
In fact, SND has already pre-sold the film in Italy (RAI Cinema), Spain (A Contracorriente), Germany (Capelight), Poland (Monolith Films), the Czech Republic and Slovakia (AQS), Benelux (Belga), Switzerland (Pathé), Portugal and Portuguese-speaking Africa (Cinemundo), Romania and Moldova (ADS Service), Bulgaria (Pro Films), Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Albania (Blitz), Canada (Sphere Films), Central and Southern America (California Filmes), Indonesia (PT Prima Cinema), Taiwan (Swallow Wings), the Philippines (Pioneer) and South Korea (Scene & Sound).

While rehearsing for Orpheus, a cursed opera reputed to have been composed by the Phantom of the Opera, she falls in love with a mysterious pianist. As her first performance draws near, between unexplained accidents and worrying revelations, Anastasia finds herself thrust into an impossible love on the line between reality and fantasy…
Produced by Ségolène Dupont, Rémi Jimenez and Thierry Desmichelle for SND and by Boris Mendza, Gaël Cabouat and David Atrakchi on behalf of FullDawa Films, The Phantom of the Opera will be released in French cinemas on 26 September 2026, courtesy of SND. Cinematography is entrusted to Canada’s Nicolas Bolduc (awarded this year’s Lumière Prize and nominated for the César in his speciality thanks to The Count of Monte-Cristo), the film’s music will be composed by Dan Levy (who received the 2020 César for I Lost My Body [+see also:
