The 2025 edition of Toulouse’s Cartoon Forum, the pitching and co-production event for European animated series, is running from 15-18 September. Here, we present details of five interesting projects that were introduced at this year’s gathering.

Action Rabbits by Christelle Naga

The 52 x 11’30” show, produced by Blue Spirit Productions (a Studio TF1 outfit), Atomic Cartoons and Milkcow Media, and distributed by Studio TF1, is set on the vibrant Hoppity Island. Amidst a towering volcano, colourful jungle, mysterious ancient temples and a quaint village, the series follows Dutch, Harley, Rush and Mash, four furry-eared friends who leap into action to rescue anyone in trouble. Using their unique skills and state-of-the-art gadgets, they face daunting missions, even confronting mischievous island inhabitants.

Aimed at children aged five to seven, the show blends comedy, empathy, teamwork and adventure with an Indiana Jones flair. Jérôme Alby, SVP Kids & Family at Studio TF1, tells Cineuropa: “Action Rabbits is an upper-preschool rescue show with relatable characters, heroes with flaws, funny villains, a tropical island paradise, comedy, empathy, teamwork, love of mother nature, awesome gadgets and loads of surprises! Thanks to our international writers’ awesome storytelling skills, we strongly believe that these values and themes will resonate with kids worldwide. We’re thrilled and honoured to already have TF1, RTS and RTBF on board, also with the highly experienced international animation studios Atomic Cartoons, Blue Spirit and Alexander Bar’s Milkcow Media. To jointly carve and polish this upcoming must-have show, we’re looking for co-producers and pre-sales partners – and, most of all, many new friends to work with.”

This 2D, 26 x 11-minute series for children aged 9-11 is being produced by Heather Millard and Gudny Gudjonsdottir for Animation Studio Iceland, and was created by Conor Leech. The show follows a young elf who moves to the city with her new family, navigating the challenges of making friends, keeping her elf-y nature secret and figuring out the curious ways of humans. A funny and outrageous episodic adventure, it blends humour, relatable tween experiences and whimsical fantasy. According to Millard, the team is excited to share the series’ teaser with the Cartoon Forum audience and is eager to engage with prospective co-producers, distributors and broadcasters.

Atomic by Iva Zahova

Atomic - Iva Zahova (Bulgaria)
The project is a 2D TV series (26 x 22 minutes) produced by Agnes Markarian for Studio Zmei, directed and co-written by Iva Zahova with graphic work by Zahova and Kalina Aleksandrova. Aimed at older kids (10+), the series follows Willow, a teenage girl determined to help her overworked engineer-hero father by taking over his duties protecting the city. Alongside her friends, she defends the Eastern European-inspired Hope City from mutants, robots and aliens, all while uncovering secrets from her father’s past, exploring real science, and navigating everyday teenage life. As the producers explain: “We want to bring an exciting sci-fi action story to life that has a unique team of heroes at its core, stands on real science, ignites kids' curiosity and is set in a familiar urban setting with a twist.” The project is currently seeking co-producers to support full development and production, with potential involvement from interested broadcasters.

Meow Clique by Marek Lachowicz and Piotr Szczepanowicz

This new 2D, 52 x 11-minute TV series adapted from Agata Romaniuk’s Kocia Szajka is set in the charming border town of Cieszyn. It follows a “purr-fectly” coordinated gang of clever cats who, alongside the ever-confused officer Valerie Koczy and the no-nonsense commissioner Ludwik Psota, solve the town’s most whisker-raising mysteries. Each episode delivers a new case, from stolen herrings and daring heists to spooky theatre sightings and missing animated fairy tales. Leading the squad are Commandos, a tough tabby with a mysterious past, and Morpheus, a philosophical fluffball whose naps never get in the way of solving the case. Produced by Jakub Karwowski for Letko with co-production by Maciej Chmiel for Studio Filmów Rysunkowych, the show blends warmth, wit and wackiness while teaching kids about teamwork, critical thinking and embracing their inner oddball – without scratching the furniture. Ewa Skowron is on board as the project’s graphic author.

Yojimbot

Yojimbot – Director TBC (France)
Yojimbot is a 2D sci-fi adventure series (10 x 26 minutes) adapted from Sylvain Repos’ work. It follows Hiro, a young boy attempting to flee a robot-inhabited island after his father Hideo sacrifices himself to save him. Protected by a lone robot-samurai – known as a Yojimbot – Hiro embarks on a perilous journey, joined by other Yojimbots who defend him from hostile humans and the island’s many dangers. Their goal is to reach the mysterious “rights holder”, who may hold the key to Hiro’s survival. Produced by Caroline Audebert and Camille Ringuet for Passion Paris Productions, and aimed at young adults and adults, the show blends action with a reflection on humanity’s relationship with technology. As the producers explain: “Yojimbot is a compelling sci-fi adventure that reflects both the fear we feel about technology today, and the hope and potential it offers. It is a story of resilience: of how to grow up human in a technological world. We’re currently in development, and we have a pre-bible, plus a one-minute teaser available.” The team is seeking financial partners.
