East Doc Platform launches its call for projects
- Documentary filmmakers from Central and Eastern Europe are invited to submit their projects, at all stages of development and production; the event unspools in Prague from 19-25 March 2026

Documentary filmmakers from Central and Eastern Europe are invited to submit their projects for the 15th edition of East Doc Platform (EDP), taking place from 19-25 March 2026 in Prague. As the region’s largest co-production, funding and distribution event, EDP offers filmmakers the chance to present their work to key industry decision makers, gain international exposure and strengthen co-production networks.
The platform is open to feature-length documentaries and factual series at all stages of development, production or post-production, as well as to completed short and feature films. International projects with thematic links to Central and Eastern Europe are also eligible. Selected projects will participate in the East Doc Forum, EDP’s flagship pitching programme, where filmmakers take part in an intensive five-day training and meet one-on-one with potential co-producers, partners, and financiers. Projects are also presented at the East Doc Market, a curated marketplace connecting creators with distributors, sales agents, and other industry professionals. In addition, the event will feature Czech Docs: Coming Soon…, a showcase of upcoming Czech documentaries presented to festival selectors, sales agents, distributors, and the public.
Over the years, East Doc Platform has supported hundreds of documentary projects that went on to achieve international recognition. Many participants have used the platform to secure financing, co-productions, and festival screenings, benefiting from direct access to producers, broadcasters, distributors, festival programmers, and sales agents from around the world.
Applications for the 2026 edition are open until 14 November 2025. Successful applicants will be notified by 15 January 2026. East Doc Platform will take place in Prague from 19 to 25 March 2026, with the East Doc Market for rough cuts and completed films scheduled for 23 March, the East Doc Forum presentations on 24 March, and further Market meetings for projects in development on 24 and 25 March. Filmmakers can apply with upcoming projects in development, production, or post-production, as well as with rough cuts or finished films. Detailed guidelines and submission forms are available on the Institute of Documentary Film website.
Organised by the Institute of Documentary Film in association with the One World International Human Rights Film Festival, East Doc Platform has become the most important meeting place for documentary professionals in Central and Eastern Europe. Since 2001, the Institute has supported original documentary films at all stages of production, offering mentorship, guidance on financing and distribution, and orientation on the international market. Films developed through IDF programmes regularly win awards at major international festivals, reflecting the platform’s role in nurturing the next generation of documentary talent.
